Refik Anadol is bringing NFTs to the MoMa! The artist will preview a series of art NFTs titled, “Unsupervised” before they go to online auction. The series and his solo exhibition at The MoMa New York are taking place in partnership with online gallery, Feral File.
Anadol’s “Unsupervised” NFT Collection Launches at MoMa
In general, the artist’s work explores artificial intelligence (AI) and the presentation of data. As a matter of fact, AI plays heavily into the NFTs Anadol will display at the MoMa. In this case, Anadol fed an AI model with the metadata of the MoMa collection. This involved him and his team collecting 138,151 pieces of data. To that end, the NFT exhibit is titled, “Unsupervised: MoMA seen through the mind of a machine”. The auction will take place concurrently. Shortly after the MoMa exhibition, Anadol will launch a 900-piece NFT collection and a 500-piece video NFT collection.
Anadol Continues His Impressive Run
Evidently the marriage of traditional art houses and NFT art continues to grow. Of course Anadol is far from new in the NFT space. On the contrary, his work recently appeared at the “Right Click + Save” NFT Exhibit alongside acclaimed artists Beeple and Andy Warhol. What’s more, his “Machine Hallucinations” NFT series sold at auction last month for $5.1 million. In fact, this allowed him to further the themes of that series with his new NFT collection.
In short, if Anadol isn’t already a household name in the NFT space, it’s only a matter of time before he is. After all, a solo exhibit at the MoMa and an amazing showing at Sotheby’s are no small feat. He is certainly an artist to keep an eye out for.
