RFOX Games and MarvelousNFTs are launching a new collection of KOGS. The items are inspired by the 1990s trend of collectible milk caps and POGs. A special edition range of Bad Days KOGs has now been unveiled featuring characters from the Marvel superhero universe.
The gaming division of RedFOX Labs, RFOX Games hopes the new line will push play-to-earn gaming further into the future. The KOGS NFTs are interoperable collectables, and designed to create income for holders. The third edition of the range dropped on 3rd June. Although currently somewhat automous, a blockchain mobile phone game, SLAMS, is in beta testing and will use the items as in-game assets.
RFOX Games and MarvelousNFTs see this as a form of “immortalising Stan Lee” and his work. According to spokespeople from both companies, the collaboration is about celebrating the creations and life of Stan Lee. The most legendary comic book man of all time, he invented Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Black Panther, among many more iconic heroes.
“We are thrilled to work with MarvelousNFTs to present the Bad Days KOGs Special Edition,” said RFOX Games’ Fadzly Yusof, as quoted in TechBullion. “Stan Lee has been a huge part of our lives with his creations. To be able to immortalise him and his characters has been a dream come true for us. Humorous poses and designs that we have presented for this edition really show that even our favourite superheroes can have Bad Days.”
Damian Rolvink, MarvelousNFTs CEO, added: “Our team has taken great pride in creating this collaboration series and believes humour is the best medicine, particularly during these tough times. Even Superheroes have Bad Days!!”
A good day for Bad Days
Bad Days began life as a comedy web series, debuting on YouTube in 2012. The first episode has managed to accumulate more than 53million views, which speaks volumes about the concept’s popularity. The idea is simple — show superheroes having bad days to make us all feel better about our lack of super strength or X-ray vision. To date, the animations have 1billion views in total, and claim 850,000 subscribers.
MarvelousNFTs then minted a series of non-fungible tokens based on the characters. Bad Days the decentralised app runs on the ethereum network. Players can own, breed, collect, battle and play unique assets. The creators describe it as “a strategy game and blockchain powered site with crypto collectibles.”
Gaming and NFTs
NFTs are continuing to make a huge impact on the gaming universe, and metaverse. Last week it was reported the ‘Big Time’ online RPG could now offer real world monetisation through this technology. Meanwhile, MyMetaverse is selling real estate NFTs linked to land in Minecraft, and the new VR role playing game Revomon is also based on NFTs.
In May, the world’s largest video game retailer, GameStop, announced plans to build a new NFT platform on ethereum. Details remain thin on the ground, but an open call for designers, gamers, marketers and community leaders has been issued. Once live, we expect this to be one of the most significant steps in bringing non-fungible gaming into the mainstream.
