RTFKT COO Wallet Hack: What Happened?
More Details About The RTFKT Phishing Attack
    About RTFKT

Earlier this week, RTFKT COO Nikhil Gopalani lost over $300,000 worth of NFTs in a phishing hack. The NFT project leader took to Twitter to announce the devastating news. The attack has affected almost all of his digital asset portfolio, including grail NFTs and more. Read on to learn more about the incident below.

RTFKT COO Wallet Hack: What Happened?

Due to the phishing attack on the RTFKT CloneX COO, Nikhil Gopalani’s wallet only holds a single NFT at the time of writing. The NFT is the Death Row Records CloneX Theme Song NFT. This digital artifact is worth $59. The tweet that he sent out to announce the hack mentions that the clever scammer has the same phone number as his apple ID. Moreover, the hacker has sold all of Nikhil’s CloneX NFTs.

Upon further investigation, it was found that the hacker used two wallets to steal all of the CloneX COO’s NFTs. This was derived from OpenSea trading data from the original wallet. The NFTs in total are worth over $173,000, given current floor prices. The valuable portfolio includes 19 CloneX NFTs, with a current estimated worth of around $140,000. Furthermore, there are 18 RTKFT Space Pods (worth over $6300), 17 Loot Pods valued over $6,200, 11 CryptoKicks worth over $3000, and 19 Animus Eggs valued over $20,000, among many others.

More Details About The RTFKT Phishing Attack

This is a truly disastrous phishing hack during the raging crypto winter. Another striking detail was that a rare NFT, the highly coveted Murakami Clone #17088 was also a part of the stolen collection. This NFT is an esteemed piece in RTFKT’s collaboration with prolific Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The digital collectible is still Nikhil Gopalani’s Twitter (@Nikgopalani) PFP. As of the time of writing, no further details have come out about the hack.

Although, RTFKT CTO Samuel Cardillo sent comments under the hack announcement Twitter thread by Nikhil. “For legal purposes, we won’t be able to go into deeper details until further notice. All I can say is: be aware that companies such as Microsoft, and Apple, will never ask you for your password, your private key, or any other forms of private information via phone or emails,” he states.  This may suggest that Nikhil accidentally gave the hacker confidential information. Furthermore, the tweet would also state that the scammer may have donned the identity of a top tech employee. These are only assumptions on top of the limited information that has come out. No further information is available at this time.
