A Sandbox Gutter Cat Gang metaverse has launched in time for Halloween. This is the first time the NFT series has claimed a digital realm all of its own.
So, what can people expect from the experience? Simply put, Gutter Cat Gang members will be able to get a preview of a larger metaverse project which is set to arrive in the future. Currently, this includes a nightclub decked out for Halloween partying, car park complete with lowriders, and Carl’s Contraband Warehouse. We’re not entirely sure what’s in the latter, although catnip may feature.
The project itself is called Gutter City, and has been built on a parcel of land within The Sandbox. Elsewhere, expect to play Gutter Ball on a selection of courts, or head to the Smitten Kitten Dive Bar for a drink. All in all, it’s a well-conceived addition to an already successful NFT series, offering something unique to holders. This effectively acts as a social hub while work continues on the wider city itself. It’s also worth noting The Sandbox releases its alpha-multiplayer functionality soon, which has catalysed the Gutter City project, which is the product of a new partnership with award-winning NFT utilization studio, Blaze Games.
How About Those Gutter Cats?
If the Gutter Cat Gang metaverse has taken you by surprise, clearly you need to read NFTEvening more often. Gutter Cat Gang is now the third most popular NFT avatar series in the world, after CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club. Not bad considering it only launched in June this year.
At that time, the collection — comprising 12,000 unique characters — sold out in less than ten minutes. Each tokenised avatar was priced at 0.07 ETH — then $220 — although the value is significantly higher now. Overall, more than $70million has been spent on the series through the secondary market. Once it is fully launched, Gutter City will be the first fully-developed NFT town in The Sandbox, giving some idea as to how significant this collection now is.
