NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is making Christmas come early with his wonderful “Shaq Gives Back” NFT collection. The collection from the famously generous superstar launched on the NFT marketplace Notables, on December 22nd. Most amazingly of all, 100% of proceeds and royalties from secondary sales of the NFTs will go to charity!
O’Neal Continues Charity Efforts with “Shaq Gives Back”
The Shaq Gives Back collection is a set of 10,000 NFTs featuring Shaquille O’Neal. The NFT traits come from different moments from Shaq’s career, both in the NBA and beyond. At the time of writing about half of the NFTs have sold.
On the whole, the Shaq Gives Back NFTs are the newest chapter in O’Neal’s tradition of holiday charity. To explain, he has hosted an annual “Shaq-a-Claus” event since 1997. The event supplies toys, clothing, and meals to children in need across the United States.
By the same token, he created The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation in 2019. This is the charity that 100% of proceeds from Shaq Gives Back NFTs will go to.
Shaq teamed up with Notables for the special NFT collection. For those who don’t know, Notables is an NFT marketplace that does NFT drops with well-known brands and celebrities. At present, they also have an NFT collection with the famous jeweler Ben Baller.
Of course, Shaq is no stranger to NFTs. As a matter of fact, he is easily one of the biggest celebrities – literally and figuratively – in the NFT world. To illustrate, the Shaq Gives Back collection isn’t even his first go at NFTs. Indeed, he dropped his first NFT collection on Ethernity back in October.
Given this, his latest NFT drop, as well as his “Shaq.ETH” Twitter name, and a recent conversation with Gary Vee, it seems like the iconic big man has found himself at home in the NFT space.
