Whoever said money can’t buy love didn’t know that one day an NFT representing love would hit the market. Polish Influencer Marta Rentel, who created the persona Marti Renti, sold her “digital love” as an NFT paired with one real-life date. The unknown buyer paid $250,000 for this unique offering.
Marta Rentel’s Love NFT
The 26-year old social media star shared that she was inspired by Salvatore Garau’s NFT offering. The Italian artist sold an invisible sculpture as an NFT for $18,300 in May. She also clarified that the sale is purely symbolic and the NFTs only give access to her digital alter-ego, not her real-world self. Rentel adds, “Nothing on the internet is physical, it’s a part of my online persona.”
For Rentel, the NFT Sale is a business opportunity and purely transactional. She said, “For me, selling digital love is empowering for women because we can love without compromising our freedom and individuality. Digital love is transactional, but so is marrying a man just because he is wealthy and stable, right?”
However, Rentel is not opposing the possibility that this can lead to a relationship or something more romantic. She said“If I manage to successfully mint my Digital Love and find my second half, then why shouldn’t other feelings and emotions just follow?”
With almost 700,000 followers on Insgram, Rentel is convinced tha her NFTs have a solid market. In fact, the good turnout has inspired her to create a whole revenue stream around NFTs. She intends to mint other intangible assets and some photographs for her next NFT Collection. Meanwhile, she pledged to donate some funds from the sale to charity.
