With its 180 clubs, 6000 licensed footballers, 600,000 registered users and now a record $688 Million Funding from a Series B Round, the newest goal for Sorare: Other Sports. The fantasy football league plans to build the next sports entertainment platform leveraging NFTs.
Sorare’s Series B Funding means Other Sports are in sight
The platform proudly confirmed that new investors backed the record-breaking fundraising round. With such an amount, it now holds the record as the biggest Series B Round in the History of French Tech and the largest in Europe.
The team assures the community that the fresh funds will translate to an improved gaming fantasy experience for millions of sports fans. Furthermore, the funds will now give the platform rough wiggle room and capacity to pursue its long-term goal of building the “next Sorare.” So the funds will be used to hire world-class talents, sign new partnerships then accelerate mobile and marketing. Lastly, the ultimate goal is to venture into new sports by applying the Sorare Model by 2022.
Softbank led the round with Atomico, Bessemer Ventures, D1 Capital, Eurazeo, IVP and Liontree. Moreover, historical investors Benchmark, Accel and Partech didn’t pass up the chance to invest in Sorare. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and football players Gerard Piqué, Rio Ferdinand, Antoine Griezmann and César Azpilicueta also contributed to the round.
Sorare has shown tenacity and consistency in terms of building its roster of teams and acquiring more users. Thus, the fresh funds are a welcome boost that will propel it to new heights. Sorare has taken the football world by storm so its only natural they venture into other sports NFTs. It will continue to be the poster child of how sports, gaming and new technology can intersect.
