What is Unicorn DAO?

Unicorn DAO is a group of Web3-native leaders on a mission to improve equality in the crypto space. Co-founded by Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, the organization also includes well-known crypto personalities John Caldwell, Rebecca Lamis, Grimes, Guy O’Seary, and Beeple. The group distributes funding to support women-identified and LGBTQ+ people. They have a specific emphasis on individuals in the digital art space.

The DAO views Web3’s early stage as an excellent opportunity to disrupt historical norms and create an even playing field for these traditionally underrepresented groups. By showcasing the talents of women and LGBTQ+ artists and builders, Unicorn Dao aims to increase the criminally-low 5% share of NFT sales attributed to these demographics.

What is the “MY BODY, MY BUSINESS” Auction?

The auction features physical and digital artworks by Pussy Riot, Marina Abramović, Jenny Holzer, Cindy Sherman, Nancy Baker Cahill, and more. The collection unites traditional and digital artists in one goal– the creation of art that “challenges existing power structures. Also, promoting gender equality, and celebrating the diverse experiences and perspectives of women.”

Bidding runs from March 7 to March 14 and has estimated bids as high as $60,000 for certain pieces. Proceeds from the auction will go to organizations such as Planned Parenthood.

How is Endaoment Helping to Facilitate the Auction?

Endaoment registered an ENS domain, PPFA.eth (short for Planned Parenthood Federation of America). They have assigned it to an Ethereum wallet to accept crypto donations and bids. By doing so, Endaoment is empowering crypto holders to help in the fight to protect women’s rights. Further, at the same time, they are also enjoying the tax benefits of donating to a 501(c)(3) charity.

Zach Bronstein, COO of Endaoment, writes, “Over the past year, the crypto community has rallied together in support of reproductive rights, giving millions of dollars in cryptocurrency to benefit organizations protecting bodily autonomy. These donations are making a real difference. The creation of PPFA.eth taps into that energy and helps to expedite the donation process for crypto users interested in supporting freedom of choice for all.”

This is not the first time Endaoment has helped support women’s rights, however. Since the initial reports broke about the likely repeal of Roe v Wade in 2022, Endaoment has processed over $650,000 in donations to protect reproductive rights. Along with groups such as Sotheby’s and Unicorn DAO, Endaoment has clearly shown their willingness to lead from the front ranks in this battle to return the right of bodily autonomy to women in the United States.
