Auction house Sotheby’s is all set to launch the second edition of Natively Digital, a curated NFT auction. This time, the sale will focus on NFTs owned by some eminent NFT collectors. The auction will go live on October 14 and will run for a week until October 21.
“Natively Digital 1.2 is focused on the luminaries and champions of the NFT ecosystem – the collectors themselves,” Sotheby’s tweeted on October 8. It further noted that the collectors “have shaped the industry through their curation of early stage emerging artists, and culturally significant projects.”
All about Sotheby’s second Natively Digital auction
The second edition of Sotheby’s NFT auction is titled ‘Natively Digital 1.2: The Collectors.’ The auction will feature 53 NFTs belonging to 19 collectors that are carefully hand-picked by the auction house. FingerprintsDAO, WhaleShark, 888, Pranksy, Steve Aoki, and Paris Hilton are some of the featured collectors.
Sotheby’s is yet to release the full catalogue. However, it offered a sneak peek into some of the NFTs. This includes Mitchell F. Chan’s “Digital Zone of Immaterial Pictorial Sensibility” and DEAFBEEF’s “Glitchbox,” both from FingerprintsDAO. The auction house will release the full catalogue this week.
Sotheby’s first ‘Natively Digital’ NFT art auction had gone live in June this year. It featured NFTs such as a rare alien CryptoPunk, which was sold for $11.75 million, and Kevin McCoy’s ‘Quantum’, the first-ever NFT. Some of the other creators included Anna Ridler, X Copy, Ikaro Cavalcante, and Simon Denny.
All in all, the auction fetched a whopping $17.1 million. Can the second edition surpass this feat? Well, we’ll know in about two weeks time. Till then, keep an eye on Sotheby’s website and Twitter for all the updates.
