Japanese gaming behemoth, Square Enix is the latest to join the NFT frenzy. While the company first announced its NFT collection back in May, the NFTs will launch this month. Remarkably, these NFTs are designed by famous Manga artist, Choboraunyopomi.
The first NFTs will drop on the LINE blockchain on October 14. Furthermore, users have to manage the NFTs on the platform’s own LINE BITMAX wallet. Users can buy the NFTs by registering via the LINE messaging app.
What is in Square Enix’ first NFT collection?
Square Enix’s first drop will feature the popular Japanese animated character “Million Arthur.” The collection comes in two types – a character sticker and a 4-frame sticker. Additionally, the character stickers come with customizable backgrounds and frames. Choboraunyopomi, famous for Ai Mai Mii, has designed all the artworks.
Meanwhile, the NFT holders can keep the NFTs in the original wallet and collect additional content in the future. Additionally, to encourage sign-ups on LINE, Square Enix will giveaway 1 million NFTs via referral signups.
The company has released a teaser site that details all the NFTs in the works. However, the website is in Japanese and currently doesn’t have an English version.
Square Enix is one of the biggest gaming companies in Japan and is behind games like the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. Hence, the company’s foray into NFTs spells big things for the industry.
The company’s move also signals the mainstream gaming market’s growing interest in blockchain gaming. For instance, EA Games, Europe’s second-largest video games company, had recently announced a series of blockchain and NFT hires. At the time, the company had noted, “The video game industry is evolving with new ideas and Electronic Arts aspires to lead the way.”
