The 55-year old Star Trek Franchise is officially embracing the emerging technology of NFTs. As part of today’s Star Trek Day Celebration, 3D Models Of The Enterprise-D And Borg Cube are dropping on the VeVe Collectibles App.
About the Star Trek NFT Collection
Starting today, September 8, at 8 am Pacific. Fans and Collectors will be able to snatch up one of a limited number of Enterprise-D and Borg Cube 3D models that live within the VeVe app. Two editions of each can be purchased. Firstly, a 1:1000 scale Borg Cube ($40). Then, a 1:1 scale Borg Cube ($110). Lastly, a 1:1000 scale Enterprise-D ($60) and a 1:1 scale Enterprise-D ($130).
The starship “Borg Cube” was constructed from tritanium by the Borg Collective to be one of the most destructive weapons ever known. Meanwhile, the USS Enterprise-D (NCC-1701-D) was a 24th century Federation Galaxy-class starship operated by Starfleet under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Additionally, it is the fifth Federation starship to bear the name Enterprise.
The AR Experience
More than being a Collectible, the NFTs also power a unique and immersive experience. The models can be viewed using the VeVe app and placed into a real-life environment using augmented reality (AR). So imagine, you can go to a football field and place them there using AR.
“Huge” is an understatement. To illustrate, The U.S.S. Enterprise-D is ~2,106.3 ft/642 m long. That’s about 7 football fields/6 soccer pitches. VeVe CEO David Yu shared a photo on his Instagram account showcasing the AR possibilities of this Collection.
