Fried Chicken Recipe NFT
Following various TV appearances in reality cooking shows, Samuelsson now serves as the Head Chef of Red Rooster. His unique NFT is supported by Christie’s in order to provide relief to the badly hit Food and Beverage Industry. The auction ran in conjunction with the auction house’s 4th Annual Art and Tech Summit.
Apart from the coveted recipe, The 1/1 NFT package includes a digital art of the tasty dish. In addition, the winning bidder will receive exclusive video content from Samuelsson revealing his tips and tricks when approaching the signature dish. Finally, it comes with a private dinner for four at the legendary restaurant Red Rooster in Harlem, plus a special appearance from Marcus himself.
Samuelsson shared why he settled on the Yardbird recipe for his first foray in NFTs. “Fried chicken is a dish that I fell in love with as a young chef and I knew I had to put my own spin on it. I became fascinated with the different methods of preparing and cooking it in addition to the cultural significance it held. My Fried Yardbird recipe has since become one of my iconic staples and people around the world have expressed how much it means to them. As I learned more about what NFTs are, while thinking about the impact this recipe has made, it was a natural choice to offer the Fried Yardbird in such a unique and collectible way.”
Partnership with Stella Artois
Stella Artois minted the NFTs on Rarible. The German Beer Pilsen maker decided to support this auction because restaurants are at the heart of their brand business; breaking bread with people you love is what he Life Artois is all about. Thus, it decided to approach Samuelsson and the James Beard Foundation.
Samuelsson shared that the partnership is going so well that he wants to mint more recipes as NFTs. “Stella has also been an incredible partner to us and the restaurant industry as a whole during the most challenging times. So, this was something that I was curious about. Since it is cooking, it is an experience you can participate in and now own. I don’t think it’s the last recipe I’ll do as an NFT.”
The brand and Samuelsson wanted to collaborate on a robust NFT because cooking and enjoying a meal is all about the experience. So they designed the NFT to go beyond just unlocking his recipe. According to Samuelsson, the video revealing his trade secrets is actually a digital film while the private dinner makes the NFT a 360-experience.
