Iconic English heavy metal band Iron Maiden crosses over the NFT scene by releasing an NFT Collection centering on their mascot Eddie. Reportedly, the partnership with Funko and Wax Blockchain will include Eddie designs and his many guises get a “Digital Pop.”

As pioneers of the new wave of British heavy metal movement, Iron Maiden have always been trendsetters. For over 40 years, the band has been supported by their mascot, Eddie, who has appeared on almost all of their collaterals. For example, it is always present in all album covers, videos and merchandise.
Actually, British artist Derek Riggs created the character specifically for the band. Incredibly, it actually became the main attraction of Iron Maiden live shows. Thus, the band always made it a point to add their mascot in the theatrical elements of the show including props and stage sets.
Now Eddie is getting an NFT make-over! Plus, fans will gain a new way to connect with their favorite rockstars.
The Iron Maiden Digital Pop featuring Eddie NFT Collectibles
Starting September 30, fans can get their hands on the first Iron Maiden Funko Digital Pop series! NFTs. All packs contain a randomized selection of Iron Maiden Digital Pop! collectibles pulled from 44 unique designs. Then, the collection features six rocking rarities. So fans have a choice between common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary and grail.
To complete the collections mystery, you need to gather one of each single common, uncommon, rare and epic Digital Pop! Then, the project will reward you with a rare physical Funko Pop! If you’re lucky enough to unpack a Legendary or Grail rarity in your pack(s), you can redeem them for a corresponding, physical Funko Pop!

The new Eddie collectibles come in packs of 5 and 15 Pops! priced at $9.99 and $29.99, respectively. Additionally, 18k standard and 6k premium packs are available to the regular consumer with a purchase limit of $30 per transaction. Furthermore, Funko will utilize WAX’s patented “virtual in real life (vIRL)” technology. With this in mind, certain assets and combinations of assets are paired with physical items that NFT holders can redeem for physical items.
It is worth noting that there are only 18,000 Standard packs and 6,000 Premium packs available, with a limit of $30 per transaction. Basically, this means you can have multiple transactions, but the most you can spend per transaction is $30. To clarify, this limit is in place to ensure fair distribution of the NFTs.
Why WAX blockchain?
Purchasing NFTs on WAX and its associated marketplaces ensures a green future for the blockchain. Officially certified as carbon-neutral, WAX provides fans with the collectibles they desire sustainably. Basically, their blockchain is made explicitly for trading virtual items such as rare and collectible items in video games and virtual worlds.

In fact, Iron Maiden aren’t the first metal band to look into NFTs. Recently, Pantera’s Abbott brothers made their first foray into the scene and NFTs are certainly no new thing in the music scene in general. Even pop-star Doja Cat released her own collection recently. Seemingly, this is just the beginning for the music world and NFTs. Although, the Iron Maiden Mascot, eddie, is certainly the first musical mascot digitized in this way.
