Twitter user @iCrimax has been making headlines for allegedly selling his Lamborghini to buy a BAYC NFT. Safe to say, CryptoTwitterers were equally shocked and curious about @iCrimax’s controversial decision.
Yesterday, @iCrimax tweeted, “FINALLY JOINED @BoredApeYC. I sold my Lambo for this NFT, but I think BAYC is a bigger flex. So excited to be part of this community! So this #ApeFollowApe works I’ve heard? #BAYC.” The tweet was an immediate hit, and at the time of writing has more than 576 retweets.
@iCrimax continued, “Many people don’t believe in my Lambo story, but let me tell you something.
In 2 years my Lambo lost 30.000€ value. In 1 day holding BAYC I got my loss back. #bigboymoves #bayc.”
Is buying a BAYC NFT better than purchasing a Lamborghini?
Within months after its launch last year, BAYC became one of the biggest success stories in the NFT space; especially after it hit a sales turnover of over $1 billion. This is almost 10% of what Apple earned in 2021. The NFT sector is currently worth $41 billion – which is approximately what the global art sales market makes in a year.
Each Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT is unique and highly sought after. Best of all, BAYC’s popularity is growing. Celebrities are apeing in every day. Owning a BAYC NFT gives NFT holders access to exclusive online clubs, live meetups, and privileged access to other rare NFTs. Therefore, purchasing a BAYC NFT is a sound investment, as selling it will surely fetch you thousands – if not millions – later down the line.
