TravelX And Air Europa Partner To Offer NFTickets For Flights

    By Janelle BorgApril 13, 2022Updated:January 26, 20232 Mins Read

TravelX, the blockchain-based travel distribution startup, just announced a new partnership with Spanish airline Air Europa. Together, they will launch NFTickets – the world’s first NFT flight tickets.

    Miami NFT
The city of Miami, Florida, are massive supporters of web3 and NFTs.

The 10 NFTickets series, created in collaboration with renowned artists, will be released every 14 days via TravelX. The first NFTicket was available during a live auction on 11 April.

So what do NFT holders get? Holders will be able to board an Air Europa flight to Miami Beach on November 29, 2022. Furthermore, they will get access to events in the run-up to Art Basel in Miami this December.

More about the TravelX & Air Europa partnership

The series, titled “The Art as the Destination”, is curated by Ximena Caminos. Multi-disciplinary artist Carlos Betancourt – known for his artworks that explore memory, identity and communication – created the first NFT.

When speaking about the collaboration, Air Europa‘s Global Sales Director Bernardo Botella said: “Innovation is in our DNA. We have been pioneers in applying new technologies within our industry and it can not be different with NFTs, which could be the next step in the travel industry.

“We are proud to be the first airline to adopt blockchain technology for inventory management and distribution. We’re excited to see where this could take travel as a whole and how it could improve the customer experience.”

TravelX’s Co-Founder, Facundo Diaz, agreed: “It’s exciting to give birth to a new kind of NFT, minted on Algorands carbon-negative blockchain. We will blend the best of the traditional NFT but add real-world application and experience. We believe NFTickets will be the perfect fusion of art, travel, and technology.”

To celebrate this collaboration, TravelX is hosting an invitation-only event at the Eiffel Tower during Paris Blockchain Week and Paris NFT Day. Paris Blockchain Week is currently taking place in the European city of Paris to raise awareness of all things blockchain, NFT and crypto-related.
