As crypto donations for Ukraine keep coming, the country had promised an airdrop on March 3rd at 6 pm GMT +2. However, many scammers hurried to launch tokens that only seem connected to the Ukrainian wallet addresses.
Of course, a handful of crypto traders rang the alarm via Twitter, warning other users about the scam. Meanwhile, the crypto community is waiting for the actual airdrop, scheduled for later today.
The Ukraine airdrop isn’t live – but the scammers’ one is
At this moment, Ukraine has received a whopping 89K crypto donations on its official wallet addresses. Yesterday, March 2nd, the country confirmed an airdrop to come today, March 3, at 6 pm Kyiv time.
Unfortunately though, a handful of scammers saw an opportunity to trick donors. Therefore, today the Peaceful World token ($WORLD) showed up on Uniswap. At first glance, the token appears to be airdropped by one of the official Ukraine donation addresses.
In this situation, a quick look into the Etherscan logs reveals that another wallet address is transferring the token. As receivers start trading $WORLD, scammers might gain access to their digital wallets and drain them.
Subsequently to this incident, the crypto community of Ukraine donors is now eagerly waiting for the actual airdrop. The token will most likely be announced on the official Twitter account of Ukraine, so stay tuned!
