USPS Partners with VeVe for Day of the Dead Stamp NFTs

Veve has partnered with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to release Day of the Dead stamps as NFTs! Recently, USPS had released four Day of the Dead-inspired “Forever” Stamps. Now, VeVe is all set to drop these stamp arts as limited edition NFTs on its platform.

Día de los Muertos (or Day of the Dead), is an annual Mexican celebration where families come together to remember and honour their departed loved ones. Veve’s Day of the Dead Stamp NFTs aims to celebrate the “traditions and colourful exuberance” of this tradition.

VeVe x USPS: Day of the Dead Stamps

This year, USPS released four colourful stamps featuring many iconic elements of the Day of the Dead offering. Each stamp features one member of a family in a decorated, “sugar skulls” form. The two lit candles, present on both sides of the skulls, are meant to guide the departed ones to their annual return to the land of the living.

Furthermore, Marigolds, the popular Day of the Dead flower, adorns each stamp. While international artist, Luis Fitch, created the stamps, Antonio Alcalá is the Art Director.

“We are offering a new way to collect and a way to remain relevant and innovative with new audiences,” Chris Karpenko, USPS Executive Director of Brand Marketing, said in a press release.

Meanwhile, David Yu, Co-Founder of VeVe, added, “We’re thrilled to offer collectors a new, unique way to engage with digital collectibles that celebrate the legacy of both the USPS, a daily crucial service, and Day of the Dead, a holiday that has resonated among countless generations.”

    All about the NFT drop

At 12 PM PT on November 2, VeVe will drop the Day of the Dead NFTs as blind boxes for $6 apiece on its platform. This means that buyers will not know which NFT or which rarity they have bought.

There are four NFTs in the collection:

    Day of the Dead: Child

The Day of the Dead child features a dimpled chin, lit candles, and marigold flowers, among others. This is the most common NFT in the collection with 7,666 editions.

Day of the Dead: Child with Hair Bow

This Day of the Dead child spots a turquoise hair bow and a pink heart on her forehead. With 6,666 editions, it falls in the Uncommon rarity.

    Day of the Dead: Mother

Mother is the rarest NFT and falls in the Ultra Rare category. It has a total of 4,666 editions and features two hair curls and a pink heart on her forehead.

VeVe, a New Zealand-based NFT platform has released some stellar collectibles recently. While late last month it released VeVe Disney+ collectibles, it dropped Spiderman Digital Comics mid-last month. It is also home to drops from a range of franchises including Tokidoki, DC Comics, Star Trek, and Back To The Future.
