Venezuelan rum brand Ron Carúpano has forayed into the NFT world with its rum bottle artworks turned into NFTs. As part of its Art, Innovation and Rum project, the brand asked five top Venezuelan artists to create artworks out of its Legendario expression. These artworks were then turned into dedicated drinks NFTs.
The collection is now live on OpenSea and has a minimum bid of 1 ETH or $3,428.86. Furthermore, the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Carúpano-based Thomas Merle Foundation.
Ron Carúpano NFT collection
Titled ‘Ron Carupano Legendario’, the collection features five unique NFTs created from Ron Carúpano Legendario Special Edition rum bottles. Buyers of the NFTs also get real-life perks. They have the option to take home a real bottle of the rum, which will be delivered to their doorsteps!
“When we conceived this project, we had something very clear in mind: we would transform the unique creation of our master blender, Ron Carúpano Legendario, into a masterpiece,” Ron Carúpano’s marketing director, Lucia Alliegro, was quoted by The Spirit Business.
“Each artist took a bottle and [interpreted] it according to its own artistic expression [and] style,” Alliegro further said. “For us, this project is groundbreaking not only for its innovative value, but because it is a new opportunity to support and honour our beloved Carúpano town, a place that has given us so much.”
For the Design of the drinks NFTs , Carúpano worked with five artists: Armando Velutini, Aureliano Parra, Gerardo Campos, Dagor, and Carlos Vallenilla. Each artist worked separately on each bottle, giving rise to five unique artworks.
Plastic artist Campos, for instance, paid tribute to Venezuela by depicting the iconic landscapes of the country on the bottle, reported Today.in-24. His work is an explosion of shades of green and blue.

Velutini’s work, meanwhile, shows the brand’s journey through the years. Parra, another plastic artist, created a piece made of an aluminium structure. Street artist Dagor, on the other hand, used geometric prints of bright colours on the bottle. Lastly, Vallenilla embellished the bottle with various materials, including a ‘heart silhouette’ at the centre of the bottle.
Alcohol brands and Drinks NFTs
Ron Carúpano is not the first alcohol brand to dip its toes in the NFT craze. Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB inbev), for instance, has launched a Budweiser NFT project. Plus, AB InBev had previously participated in NFT charity auctions. Via Stella Artois, the drinks giants sponsored the horse racing game Zed Run. Recently, it has also partnered with celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson to sell an NFT of his Fried Chicken Recipe .
Meanwhile, Denver Beer Co. sold its Beer NFT, which granted the owner the tasty benefit of four free beers a day – for life! Similarly, the Enigma brand of wine recently launched NFTs linked to real-world bottles of wine.
