The worlds of rap, sleaze and blockchain collided spectacularly yesterday. Big-shot hip hop industry executive Wack 100 claims to possess a Kim Kardashian and Ray J sex tape. He offered the video to Kanye West, who split from Kardashian earlier this year, and advised converting it into the world’s first Kim Kardashian sex tape NFT.
In a curious reimagining of the concept of “respect” Wack clarified that the Kim Kardashian sex tape he is threatening to turn into an NFT is, “more graphic and better than the first one”.
“Because it’s Kanye, I probably would give it to Kanye. That’s for him. We can’t put that out there in the world like that. It’s be disrespectful.”
Will we see the Kim Kardashian sex tape as an NFT?
Hinting at an interest in blockchain technology, Wack added,
“All I know is, Kanye, holla at me, bro. We got part two on the laptop. Ain’t never been seen. We’d love for you to have it. It’d be a great, personal, private NFT.”
The original Kim Kardashian sex tape leaked way back in 2007, and it wasn’t an NFT. It showed Kim and her partner at the time, Ray J, when they were holidaying in Mexico five years previously, in 2002.
West and Kardashian’s attorney, Marty Singer, quickly denied the veracity of Wack’s declarations, stating,
“The claim that there is an unreleased sex tape is unequivocally false. It is unfortunate that people make these statements to try and get their 15 minutes of fame.”
Wack 100 is an executive at several big hip hop labels, as well as being manager of rappers Blueface and The Game. Perhaps Kim Kardashian’s lawyer is right: There’s no sex tape and there will never be an NFT. But, perhaps he’s just bluffing and there’s more to know.
West and Kardashian began divorce proceedings earlier this year, but recent reports suggest they are on reconciliatory terms. Whether or not they are putting together a roadmap on any NFT-related collaborations remains purely speculative. Possibly, this wouldn’t be the best move after Jay Z and Damon Dash has such a grueling legal battle over something similar. Either way, we are sure to be seeing much more celebrity culture in the NFT industry soon.
