Why Did Larva Labs Just Delete All Of Their Tweets?

    By Ming HooiMay 3, 2022Updated:January 29, 20232 Mins Read

Larva Labs (LL), the creators behind the CryptoPunks NFT project have just deleted all of their Tweets. What happened and why? Turns out that the reason is pretty simple.

Larva Labs just deleted all of their tweets

Since Yuga Labs bought CryptoPunks and Meebits collections from Larva Labs, there’s not much of a need for LL to keep posting on its original Twitter account. Since then, most of the Tweets have been moved to @cryptopunksnfts. While LL founders, Matt and John, continued posting as @larvalabs.

Looking at the comments though, Twitter user @Pauly0x thinks that it is quite significant for Larva Labs to delete all of the Tweets. That’s a valid concern though. After all, Larva Labs did say that they will be working on other Web3 projects, after selling CryptoPunks and Meebits NFT IP to Yuga Labs. So, making themselves disappear entirely from Twitter makes little sense.

Where can I find the original Tweets?

But if you wish to trace back the original Tweets, feel free to look for Twitter user @swissdegen. According to him, he has a complete backup of all Larva Labs’ Tweets starting from the year 2017. Wow, what a true vintage collection is that!

Sadly, nobody really seems to care about whether Larva Labs deleted their Tweets or not. According to Yuga Labs, the team will give full commercial rights to the NFT holders of CryptoPunks and Meebits collections. That news alone gave NFT holders enough incentives to switch sides to Yuga Labs.

Nonetheless, Larva Labs has been in the NFT space for 4 years. The NFT giant has been through the ups and downs in the world of NFTs and created one of the greatest OG NFT projects in CryptoPunks. Who knows, we might get to see amazing works from the team behind Larva Labs again?
