Entertainment company Wonderfuel is rolling out an NFT TV. They plan to showcase audience-driven and audience-funded programming via NFTs.
The content platform, created by Bunim/Murray Productions with Virtual Arts, will offer a full slate of competition shows. It will integrate NFTs as part of the audience experience. Meanwhile, the NFT sales will also fund future Wonderfuel shows.
Wonderfuel Merges Reality TV with NFTs
Show fans can become NFT owners as Wonderfuel mints and releases them alongside their shows. Owners can also receive special rewards, such as being able to contribute to the show’s creative decisions. There may even be unique fan experiences for these NFT holders.
“The world of NFTs is a thrilling way to put power into the hands of the consumer,” said Bunim/Murray president Julie Pizzi. With NFTs, she states, their company can create “programming that the audience has a very real stake in.” By leveraging NFTs, they’ll be “taking some of the financial burden off the platforms.” She further notes that “it’s an exciting way for unscripted content to converge with the power of tech.”
Wonderfuel has been exploring partnerships with traditional TV. They wish to explore how they’ll make the most out of Web3 content production. Thus far, the company plans to air its NFT-funded shows on both traditional networks and online streamers. They’ll even bring the shows to Web3 platforms, a trending transition among traditional entertainment companies.
Speaking about their new venture, Virtual Arts co-founder Ryan Jordan expressed his excitement. “This is a moment like never before where the fans and audience can get involved and be part of the action. We’re excited to be enabling the shift that distributes more participation and more opportunity to the viewing audience.”
