World Series of Poker(WSOP), one of the most prestigious gaming events on the planet, is entering the NFT world.
In a world-first for poker, WSOP will collaborate with the carbon-neutral blockchain WAX. Together, the pair have come up with a collection of super-rare Texas hold-em 1/1 collectibles.
Established in 1970, the World Series of Poker is undoubtedly a household name. Sponsored by Caesars Entertainment, the tournament is held annually in the gambling mecca, Las Vegas. Substantial cash prizes are won, and the contest is broadcast around the world. This year, Koray Aldemir won the main event, walking away with an 8 million dollar purse. Due to the popularity of NFTs and poker, the pair are overdue for a crossover at this point.
The popularity of the World Series of Poker is immense. However, by crossing into the NFT world, poker fans will be able to collect a rare piece of history in the form of a digital collectible.
Beginning on November 17th, there will be an auction every Monday for six weeks on Wax Digital. The auction will go on until December 6th, to be precise.
The video format NFTs features incredible footage of some of the world’s best-ever poker stars, including Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Scotty Nguyen and more. Furthermore, the six ‘Gallery of Champion Moments’ NFT’s includes iconic moments from WSOP’s most amazing competitions. Chris MoneyMaker’s championship win from 2003 is the first NFT up for auction.
Finally, you need a WAX wallet containing enough $WAXP to bid your desired amount to participate in the auction.
