Animoca Brands’ racing game, REVV Racing, has announced more races with its Sprint Sessions. There will be four Sprint Sessions in total. The top 100 players of each session will be rewarded from a prize pool consisting of REVV tokens worth US$10,000. The first session kicked off on August 20 and will end at 8 AM on August 23, REVV said in a blog.
This comes just a week after the game wrapped up its inaugural REVV Racing Tournament. The seven-day long tournament saw a total of 5,554 players participating in 53,379 races.
REVV Racing Sprint Sessions explained
The Sprint Sessions run for a limited time period. While the first session lasts for 72 hours, the remaining will last for 48 hours each. In order to race in the sessions, players will need a REVV Racing car NFT. These can be purchased on OpenSea.
Each race consists of three laps. Players have to pay 5 REVV for racing tries, where each try equates to one race. The total time taken to complete all three laps will determine the player’s spot on the tournament leaderboard.
During each session, the top 100 players with the best race times will win REVV tokens. While the player at the first position will win REVV worth $500, those at the second and third place will win REVV worth $450 and $400, respectively.
Furthermore, every player who competes in at least one race in each sprint will win an exclusive NFT car called ‘Sprint’. Meanwhile, those who finish in the top 100 in all four races will receive the ‘Sprint King’ car.
The second sprint session is slated to go live on August 23. Meanwhile, Sessions 3 and 4 will go live on August 26 and August 31, respectively.
What is REVV Racing?
REVV racing is the latest addition to the REVV Motorsport metaverse created by Animoca Brands. The ecosystem offers a range of play-to-earn, blockchain-based racing games. In addition to REVV Racing, other titles in the REVV metaverse are F1 Delta Time, Night Driver, Formula E, MotoGP Ignition, and Fatal Run.
According to Animoca Brands, REVV Racing is the “first-of-its-kind blockchain game” and is based on Polygon. The play-to-earn game offers arcade automobile racing simulation, which means the players get real-time, first-person control of their car. It runs in a browser and has graphics similar to arcade games.
“REVV Racing is not going to be your typical blockchain game,” Animoca Brands Co-founder and Chairman Yat Siu said. “We are merging the thrill and skill of real-time 3D car racing with the advantages of blockchain, including true ownership of in-game assets, play-to-earn, and enhanced security.”
“The future of play is games with the look and feel of the high-quality products that gamers are accustomed to, but that also empower players with digital property rights,” Siu further said.
