2 months ago, Binance-owned exchange WazirX launched India’s first NFT Marketplace. Like Nifty Gateway, it only offers exclusive artworks. During the launch, the platform pulled in 11,000 creators with 15,000 applications. One draw of the platform is that the NFTs have no listing price, only a minimal gas fee of $1. Moreover, Wazir X only charges a 5% service fee for each successful sale, so the creators get 95% of the sales proceeds.
Three weeks ago, we reported that WazirX assembled India’s most prominent artists to release an NFT Collection honoring 75 years of India’s Independence.
In the Bollywood circle, Leone is not alone in recognizing the potential of NFTs. Indian actor, film producer and TV host Amitabh Bachchan also announced the launch of his NFT Collection. Shivaji Rao Gaekwad or Rajinikanth professionally, sold moments from his blockbuster film Sivaji The Boss as NFTs.
