Burger King UK is the latest brand to notice the revolutionary impact of NFTs! However, there’s a catch! In a lighthearted tweet, the global fast-food chain asked its over 104,000 followers: “What’s an NFT?”
Sure enough, crypto Twitter was happy to give answers.
Burger King UK: “What’s an NFT?”
2021 was a spectacular year for NFTs. Sales volume reached $24.9 billion compared to just $94.9 million the year before, according to DappRadar. So naturally, more brands and companies are starting to realize the growth opportunities it can bring to their business. It appears that Burger King UK has fallen for the charms of NFTs.
The tweet quickly became viral with over 21,000 likes and 3300 tweets! The NFT community sure had fun tweeting back their own definition of NFTs. One user even joked that maybe Burger King could start their own Burgerverse, a wordplay on the rapidly growing Metaverse.

Even Burger King US joined the fun and tweeted back that NFT stands for chickeN, Fries, and Two Onion Rings. Humor aside, the American arm of the fast-food giant actually launched a wide-scale NFT promo as part of its “Keep It Real Campaign” last year.
Users redeemed NFTs by simply scanning QR codes in over 6 Million Meal Boxes. So users are speculating if Burger King will also release a set completion game anchored in NFTs or something else.
Other fast-food brands already got their own taste of NFTs. Last March 2021, Taco Bell offered 25 NFTs for what it called “iconic and original artwork inspired by our tacos at the easily digestible price of our menu items.” Meanwhile, McDonald’s China celebrated its 31st anniversary in the market with 188 Big Mac NFTs.
