As it is, BAYC is the darling of the NFT space. Now it’s expanding the utility of the Bored Apes by entering the music industry and forming an all-star metaverse group.
Universal Music Group’s(UMG) 10:22PM music label announced the launch of NFT supergroup KINGSHIP made of four BAYC Apes. Just like real-life musicians, the group will record music for streaming platforms and perform in the Metaverse.
Head of 10:22, Celine Joshua, explained that we could think of KINGSHIP as an NFT band or like characters. She added: “The characters will come to life. The apes will come to life.”
BAYC Metaverse Group is Conquering the Music Industry
Jimmy McNeils, a leading NFT collector and enthusiast who is also known as j1mmy.eth, is furnishing the Apes in KINGSHIP. The line-up consists of a Mutant Ape and three Bored Ape characters, including rare Golden Fur and Bluebeam Apes. So existing Bored Ape and Mutant owners will additionally have early access to all KINGSHIP NFTs, experiences and narrative selection.
Joshua also shared what we can expect from the unique group. “Just as we would with any artist or creator, my team and I will work with KINGSHIP to sharpen their vision and develop their unique sound. Each member of the group has their own story and personality that influences and contributes to KINGSHIP’s overall narrative. Through music and events across the Metaverse, we will bring the Apes in KINGSHIP to life by building communities and utility and entertaining audiences around the world.”
10:22 Music label will also handle KINGSHIP’s community-based products, activation and experiences in the Metaverse. With the launch of the band, they hope to kick-offa a new generation of artists, fans and community engagement.
More Proof of BAYC’s Staying Power
Billboards also reported that Grammy Winning super-producer Timbaland is launching a new metaverse-based entertainment company called Ape-In Productions or AIP. Basically, it will use Bored Ape Yacht Club characters to perform music and sell products as NFTs. In parallel, buying an AIP NFT will grant access to exclusive perks like merchandise, events, studio sessions, custom art, and concerts in the Metaverse.
“We’ve built a new entertainment platform in the metaverse that puts creative control and long-term ownership back in the hands of artists, a concept that is incredibly important to us,” Timbaland says. AIP’s first “signee” is TheZoo, a hip-hop group featuring Bored Apes Lincoln Aperaham, Safari Ferrari, Oro Blanco, MoMoney, Wurdz Smith, and Congo. They’ll release their Timbaland-produced debut single “ApeSh!t” along with a new NFT on Wednesday.
Apart from storming the NFT Charts, BAYC characters are also crossing over mainstream channels. Recently, Bored ape characters appeared on Rolling Stone cover. Moreover, TV host Jimmy Fallon confirmed that he is a proud owner of a BAYC character.
