New Zealand game studio Phat Loot Studios have announced that their upcoming game, Untamed Isles, will feature NFTs. The developers are planning to release the game this December on PC and Mac. Currently, there is a Kickstarter campaign running. In fact, it looks slick, detailed and professional. Plus, the project has a lot of support and a strong community.
What is the Untamed Isles Game about?
Untamed Isles is a turn-based MMORPG. Essentially, the gameplay focuses on hunting for, taming, and breeding monsters. It’s open-world, and allows for exploration and social engagement with the other players.
According to the studio, players can move through the Untamed isles game without ever interacting with its blockchain element. Despite that, it is always running in the background. However, if participants wish to mint assets, then another aspect of the game opens up.
Actually, players can tokenize all of the game’s monsters, and most items. Furthermore, they can buy, sell, and trade said tokens in an internal auction house. This gives players the opportunity to earn as they play, and explores a new area of game development.
The Untamed Isles development team have aimed to make the monsters in the game customisable and unique with almost unlimited combinations of aesthetic and functional traits. Not only that, but fights in multiplayer are in real-time. That means you can interract with other players mid-battle and more. Actually, the graphics are pleasant and although it is obviously reminiscent of Pokemon in its essence, The Untamed Isles game has its own distinct style.
Play-to earn but with Blockchain in the Background
In Untamed Isles, NFTs are used carefully. On the game’s Kickstarter page, the developers state,
“The Untamed Isles focuses on the policy game first, crypto second and does not require blockchain integration to be played by a user.”
Often, projects are not so thoughtful, but this balanced approach shows how creators can include blockchain without upsetting the balance. Their art style is distinct and they have a firm vision of where the game is going. Additionally, the Untamed Isles’ use of NFTs is discreet and accessible.
The play-to-earn model has a long way to go, as do NFTs. Ideally, more developers will find ways to make the most of blockchain technology, bringing fresh angles to the gaming experience. To conclude, it seems the team behind the Untamed Isles game are pushing all of the boundaries in blockchain gaming. In fact, we’re sure to see more from the team in future.
