Maxim, the visionary artist and founding member of the genre-defying dance music band, The Prodigy, is releasing an NFT collection. The artist, also known as (Double M), has worked with Web3 studio and NFT platform Snowcrash for this exciting project, which will launch on Crypto.com.
Officially, the “Lepidopterror Collection”, the drop consists of 888 wonderful images of four different butterflies mixed with skills and deadly weapons. The NFT collection by The Prodigy MC will launch on 27th July.
The Prodigy MC Maxim launches a unique NFT collection
Significantly, along with being a member of one of the biggest bands in the world, Maxim is an incredibly talented artist. He creates outstanding paintings, sculptures, and ceramics, often using resin. He also uses a blend of sinister and beautiful imagery to convey his message.
This latest collection plays on the insect’s beautiful and colourful life. In fact, the name ‘Lepidopterror’ refers to the order of insect to which butterflies and moths belong, called Lepidoptera. In total, there are 800 NFTs split into four categories. There are 50 Royal Butterflies, 50 Warrior Butterflies, 50 Worker Butterflies and 738 Citizen Butterflies.
In a statement about the NFT collection, Maxim said, “I am very excited about my upcoming Lepidopterror NFT Drop,” says Maxim. “I previously released NFTs in collaboration with two other artist friends, but this is my first solo NFT drop, and I can’t wait for it to be released. I am thrilled to work with the Snowcrash Team as we forged a great partnership.”
According to Maxim, the actual NFT art has been on his mind since 2009. It started when he remembered a TV advert from his childhood. In the advert, a child was trying to capture a butterfly with a giant net. He began asking, “What would it be like if I armed that butterfly?”
The story has evolved into a magical world story. The Lepidopterrors have discovered a magic source in the form of Golden Pollen. Now, the 888 butterflies must protect the magic from their enemies. As a result, each butterfly joins the four categories, such as Warrior etc.
Hopefully, we will also see The Prodigy join the NFT space in the coming months. With their innovative, relentless, electric punk style, it would certainly be fun to see.
