An unreleased Whitney Houston song — recorded when she was just 17 — has been turned into an NFT. The track, and token, will be up for sale on OneOf very soon, meaning one avid fan could be getting their Christmas present a few weeks early.

The auction couldn’t have picked a more appropriate home. OneOf is the NFT marketplace focused on music collectibles. It’s also backed by none other than Quincy Jones. The 27-time Grammy Award-winning producer worked with Houston on a number of projects, first meeting when the singer was 16. In 1998, she also won the Quincy Jones Outstanding Career Achievements Award at the 12th Soul Train Music Awards.
In terms of the token, whoever buys the unreleased song can expect access to the track, which most people have never heard. They will also get a digital video created by artist Diana Sinclair. Fittingly, she is also 17-years-old.
“I’m excited to see Whitney’s legacy and her wonderful music expand into bold new technology of this era,” Pat Houston, Executor of Houston’s estate, said in a statement. “It was a joy partnering with 17-year-old Diana Sinclair and watching the artistry of Whitney’s music influence a new generation.”
Unreleased Whitney Houston Song is Centre Piece for Miami Art Week Event
The unreleased Whitney Houston song is huge news in itself. Not only do most of us have no idea what the track will sound like, the majority didn’t even know it existed. When you’re talking about an artist this famous, that’s a pretty big find.
Understandably, then, the track is set to be a major draw at the forthcoming Miami Art Week. OneOf is hosting a two-day event as part of the programme, called OneOf.World. It’s at this the song will be given a confirmed auction date. A great example of how to stagger news in a way that will drum up even more interest.
Proceeds from the sale will go to the Whitney E. Houston Foundation, which aims to empower and create opportunities for young people. Registration and pre-qualification for those who want to bid is already open.

More Whitney Houston NFTs
The unreleased Whitney Houston song is just one item in a wider Whitney NFT collection that has been created for OneOf. The full series features thousands of fixed-price collectibles. For example, you can grab archival photos from the artist’s early career, designed as animations.
Or you can buy a copy of Sinclair’s video artwork, inspired by the hit singles ‘The Greatest Love of All’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’. Better yet, because all this is available through OneOf, you don’t have to worry about environmental impact. As we reported back in June, the platform is powered by Tezos blockchain, a far greener alternative to Ethereum.
