At first, leading NFT figure @mecdot was into the Voyagers NFT Project but now she’s going all “due diligence mode” on it. Her inquiry is quite sensitive because she wants to verify whether the project’s claims are genuine. Particularly if black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) are really behind the project. In addition, why are they not active on Twitter?
@mecdotaired is strongly against white people using black culture to sell NFTs. The NFT Community understands where she’s coming from. After all, who can forget the Fame Lady Squad Scandal? The ‘women lead’ NFT project on the ETH blockchain turned out to be a lie. The NFT community found out it was run by Russian men.
Can anyone confirm this project is created by BIPOC?

Do Mec. eth’s Concerns Have Merits?
Voyager Unknown NFT Project is receiving praise as a high-quality NFT drop because the art is just “fire.” The artist, Christian, has over 90,000 followers on Instagram. If you browse his newsfeed, you’ll understand why. Simply put, this isn’t his first time creating high-quality 3D art.
So understandably, doubts about the team’s identity are causing a stir in the community.
Lionel, a co-founder of Voyagers Unknown, didn’t waste a minute to address the FUD. He explained that they are Norwegian, so they can’t always be up for Twitter spaces. He reiterated that he is black and intends to remain anonymous despite Mec. eth’s concerns.
As displayed on the website, there are three team members and he is the only one who is black. The artist, Christian and the developer, Espen, are both white. For him, the concern over the team’s ethnicity is immaterial because the collection has every color and every race; it’s not exclusively black.
He also briefly explained that his role is to provide creative influence and direction on the clothes. He refused to say much else because he signed an NDA.
The Community Weighs In On the Voyagers Unknown Controversy
The BIPOC’s in the community also weighed in on the discussion. Some people aren’t buying the story that he has an active role. It is possible that the project just paid him to follow the script. Meanwhile, others defended Lionel’s time difference answer, showing that they still have faith in the project.
We’ll follow the latest updates on this story, so stay tuned!
