Wicked Craniums is one of the hottest NFT Projects on the block. During the launch last June 20, 2021, all 10,762 pieces were sold within the first 30 minutes. The NFTs feature portrait representation of craniums that belongs to the island of Osseous. Moreover, each cranium is detailed with over 180 differentiable features which determine rarity.

The Wicked Stallions NFT will be distributed 1:1. So for every 1 Wicked Cranium you have, you’ll be able to mint 1 Stallion. The NFTs will be awarded to the 3600 current Wicked Cranium NFT Holders. During the launch, the Craniums were sold for .06 ETH but in anticipation of the airdrop, floor price climbed all the way to 0.21 ETH. This is a telling sign that the community is excited over the airdrop.
To understand the excitement over this airdrop, we need to look at the performance of Wicked Cranium. Since launch, the skull-based NFTs have already racked up a whopping 5400 ETH in total sales. That equates to around $13.6 Million NFT Sales. The highest-priced single sale is Wicked Cranium #1875. The emerald body combined with the crown pushed the sale price to 19 ETH or $47,000. Furthermore, Matt Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold recently traded “The Dark Knight” signature guitar for the “Trippy Saint” Wicked Cranium NFT.
In conclusion, since Wicked Cranium is doing well commercially, the speculative nature of Collectibles is kicking in. That is, the community is also anticipating that their Stallion NFTs will appreciate and grow in value.
The Precedent
CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club have both used the model of airdropping NFTs of a new Collection to existing NFT holders.
Basically, anyone who had Larva Labs’ previous NFTs, CryptoPunks, and Autoglyphs, were eligible to mint Meebits without buying one. The project is a massive success and is now ranked #7 DappRadar’s Top Collections (All-Time). Just 2 weeks ago, Meebits joined the million-dollar club when Meebits #17522 was sold for 1000 ETH or $2.1 Million.
BAYC’s Bored Ape Kennels Club is also enjoying the same level of success. The free dog NFTs floor price is currently at 1.4 ETH or almost $3,000. Looking at the 7-day performance of Kennel, Club NFTs inspires confidence because it’s ranked #11 ahead of more established projects.
The success of Meebits and BAKC proves that spin-offs Collection can do well with the correct formula. In the case of Wicked Cranium, the community is unanimous in saying that the art is just beautiful and superior.
More Surprises: PopWonder Collab
Wicked Cranium gave a bonus reason for the community to participate in the airdrop. Wicked Cranium is collaborating with PopWonder and they will be airdropping a PopWonder piece to all the holders of at least 1 WickedCranium and 1 Wicked Stallion. (limit 1 PopWonder drop per wallet). The collab consists of a piece of custom artwork with 5 different variations.
