Build-A-Bear Workshop is releasing its first NFTs. Furthermore, these NFTs will come with both digital as well as real-life collectible components. The company will launch the first of three phases of this unique NFT collection as part of its 25th-anniversary celebration, in partnership with NFT platform Sweet, starting on October 4.
About the toy retailer’s upcoming NFT collection
The celebration will start with an auction of its first NFT: a Limited Edition Build-A-Bear 25th Celebration NFT with Swarovski® Crystals. Along with this NFT, the auction winner will receive a physical, one-of-a-kind teddy bear. What’s more, the winner will receive a complimentary trip for two to Build-A-Bear’s 25th Anniversary Gala on October 22 in St. Louis. The starting price is $2,500. Bidding opens October 4 at 12:00PM ET and closes October 6 at 7:00 PM ET.
Build-A-Bear Workshop’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Sharon Price John, said: “We are thrilled to enter Web3 as we celebrate our silver anniversary which is not only an acknowledgement of the accomplishments over our first 25 years but a look ahead to new ground-breaking opportunities for our company.”
Best of all, the company will donate ten percent of the NFT sale to the Build-A-Bear Foundation. Since 2004, the foundation has contributed more than $22 million to charities around the world.
Post Build-A-Bear Workshop’s Genesis Collection
Build-A-Bear Workshop will offer a second NFT auction opportunity in November, a month after the launch of the Genesis collection. This second auction will consist of one-of-one Silver-themed Bear NFTs, with a matching physical Build-A-Bear Plush Bear.
The last stage of the Build-A-Bear and Sweet team-up will commence in December. Instead of an auction, collectors can purchase bear-themed generative NFTs. Each generative NFT will have different unique traits and rarity tiers. By launching into Web3, the company continues to solidify its position as a multi-generational global brand.
